SUMMER

Right around the corner starts the path to Tromeja/Peč, crossroads of three countries, where a Meeting on Tromeja is organised every September, with a rich culinary program.

For short, pleasant walks, you should head to Planica, the queen of ski jumps, and forward to Tamar valley, to Belopeška lakes with Rifugio Zacchi or you take a walk on the banks of Sava River to the Martuljek waterfalls. All the time you will be accompanied with breath-taking views of the surrounding peaks (Ponce, Mojstrovke and Špik). Of course, we cannot forget the majestic Jalovec and Mangart or the cute Ciprnik and Vitranc, that will reward you with the best views.

Past Rateče also runs the Alpe-Adria Trail, which connects Alps with the Mediterranean Sea, and can be done by stages.

Nearest cycling track runs from Udine in Italy to Jesenice in Slovenia. With all his picturesque valleys and mountains, that are approachable with a bike, it makes sure that every cycling enthusiast finda his own peace of heaven. Of course, there is also a branched net of mountain bike trails and a bike park in Kranjska Gora.

Numerous lakes and rivers welcome all fans of water sports: from rafting and canyoning on the Soča River, stand up paddling on Jasna lake to surfing on the Rajbelj lake, or you just can take a swim in one of the clearest waters in the Europe.

Also, golf tourism is very well developed in the nearby villages, as Kranjska Gora has nine holes while the golf courses in Tarvisio and Finkenstein have eighteen.

WINTER

In the winter, the ski slopes from Kranjska Gora are inviting you, and the nearby cross-country skiing tracks provide countless skiing pleasures, because they run from Italy to Rateče and forward to Planica till the end of Tamar valley.

You can also collect skiing kilometres on the close-up slopes of Arnoldstein (Dreiländereck), Tarvisio (Lusari) or Ossiacher see (Gerlitzen Alpe). Or you can drive one hour to Nassfeld ski slopes.

When the weather right is, the nearby lakes freeze, so it is possible to skate or play ice hockey. In Rateče, they even organize an Ice Trophy on the intermittent lake Ledine, so called Pond Hockey. The weather also influences the waterfalls that are suitable for ice climbing, like those in the Tamar valley.

To awaken your inner child, we recommend sledding from Tromeja to Rateče or from Tamar to Planica.
